Date of Release: 10/03/2025

General Remarks: Release of Meteor with Glasswall Foresight.

Components / Services released:

● Glasswall Meteor App

● Embedded Engine v16.9.0

● Glasswall Conform v1.1.1

● Glasswall Foresight v1.2.0

New features:

New file analysis when processing files

We have improved the file analysis you can view after files have been processed. When viewing details you can now see greater detail about your file broken down into 3 sections. These sections roll up into an overall Current protection status you can see on the results table.

Improved threat detection for PDFs, Microsoft office Word (.docx) and Microsoft office excel (.xlsx) documents using Glasswall Foresight.

This version of Meteor contains the release version of Glasswall Foresight. Foresight is a new AI threat detection tool, to predict and inform you if your files could be malicious. It is currently in preview.

When you process a file in Meteor, the file analysis will include a new section under the original file information. This will give you 3 potential results; Malicious, Suspicious, or No Threats Detected. This will then feed up to the top level protection status.

You can read more about Foresight in Meteor on our Documentation site.

Foresight is enabled by default if your license contains the Foresight entitlement. You can disable Foresight from the settings page.

Security fixes

This release includes security enhancements and fixes to improve Meteor's stability and protection.

Known issues or limitations:

  1. Different Archives files format not supported (Gzip, Tar).
  2. Synchronisation of very large folders may reduce performance.
  3. New functionality limited to Windows.
  4. Word 1997-2003 (.doc) files containing an embedded item will not have results for Find and Redact. Clean file will still be returned.
  5. Homoglyphs will be used as a match when processing however will not show as matching in the UI in Find and Redact.
  6. Redaction will only work with single byte UTF-8 Characters.
  7. Find and Redact is case insensitive.
  8. Lookahead and Lookbehind regex patterns will cause Find and Redact to silently fail.
  9. Some PDF files that would be blocked are being regenerated.
  10. Field code: comments items show as removed embedded object in the analysis report.
  11. Files with a filepath longer than 255 characters long will fail to be processed. You can work around this by doing one of the following:
    • Enabling Win32 Long Paths via Group Policy (Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Filesystem)
    • Adding a DWORD Registry Key called LongPathsEnabled with a value of 1 at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem
